Hong Kong: Must Try Foods you Need to Know
Whenever I mentioned to someone that I wanted to go to Hong Kong they would say to me – ‘make sure to eat a lot of food!’. Food in Hong Kong cannot and should not be avoided. It is great! While more expensive than most places I have been thus far, if you know where to go it all works out.
Wonton

A classic in HK, I got these shrimp wontons on my first night in the country. I was wandering around, trying to find a cheap place, when I got distracted by a dog sniffing my pants. After giving the dog some love, the owner recommended me a place for some wonton just around the corner. Serendipity!
Egg Tarts

Egg custard with crust — mmm! Tasting rather egg-y, these are a classic to try when you are in the country. Bought for cheap at every bakery in town.
Noodle Soup

I went with the Americans I met to get noodle soup at a Michelin starred noodle place. Although the portions were small, the beef was melt in your mouth amazing and there was unlimited tea.
**Special Dinner Out***

I use the application CouchSurfing to meet local people wherever I go. In HK, I had messaged this local, Jess, who offered to take me out for dinner and drinks. Many beers later, we were great friends – hugging each other tightly and promising to meet again in Europe in a few months.
Dim Sum

This is what you have been waiting for, what HK is known for. Dim sum is amazing and delicious, although a little pricey if you are a solo traveler and want to try a little of everything. It is definitely a group meal. I splurged and got a lot of things when I went – along with waiting over an hour queuing (this place was known to be delicious AND cheap).
All in all – the food in HK was good, as everyone says. But…Korea still wins for best food overall!
