Philippines: Must Try Foods you Need to Know
Before I get started I need to say – I have failed my food blog. I took almost no pictures of food in the Philippines. On top of that, I did not search out any famous dishes in the country. I think I always get lazy at taking pictures when I actually LIVE somewhere. I am not thinking about the blog, traveling, etc….I am just thinking about my hunger. So, this post will be filled with selfies I have taken in compensation for no food pics. You are welcome in advance.
Adobo
The ‘most famous dish’ in the Philippines. I ate this a lot (usually chicken) as it is typically served at any meal you get invited to. Served with rice, adobo is slowly cooked with vinegar and soy sauce. There are a million different ways to make it and they are all delicious.

Chixsilog
My home away from home, chixsilog was the go to for drunk munchies. Piece of fried chicken, with egg and rice, can’t go wrong.

Sinigang
This is a soup/stew with a sour taste because of tamarind that is commonly made with fish or other protein. Veggies are added to the broth and it is served with rice.

Halo-Halo
Halo-Halo is a cold Filipino desert, a mixture of crushed ice, evaporated milk, and other things – I had a really good one that had toppings of fruit slices, sweetened beans, and sweet potato.

Sisig
This is a sizzling dish, composed from chicken liver and pig head (hehe traditionally it is but it can also be any kind of protein). Best served with garlic rice, it is mixed with onion and herbs, and the dish itself depends more on the cooking process than the protein.

Apologize again for the lack of insta fotos – use your best imagination.
