Laos: Must Try Foods you Need to Know
Oh Laos…you gave me food poisoning yet I still love you. Fun fact: steamed sticky rice is eaten more in Laos than anywhere else in the world!
Lap (larp/laap)
A mixture of marinated meat with a lot of cilantro, this is arguably the most famous dish from Laos. It was delicious — luckily I love cilantro.

‘The’ Noodle Soup
Night one in Vientiane we were nursing an awful hangover and wanted some soup. We were pointed to a small shop and ordered two rice noodle soups without meat. We were presented with something incredible. For one dollar, the soup was amazing with a super flavorful broth. I filled mine up with unlimited amounts of lime, ginger, and chili flakes. We came back every night.

Bread
Yo, the bread in Laos was AMAZING. The french influence is there and the little sandwich shops that were everywhere were amazing.

Fried Rice
Frequently eaten, especially post food poisoning.

Indian Food
Count me surprised as well, but there is a substantial indian population in Laos (I googled it after seeing so many shops). Wanting some good vegetarian food, I took Andrea for her first indian experience and she fell in love. We went back often over the next couple weeks.

Korean Food
Another surprise, Laos was FULL of koreans. Brought back some serious nostalgia for Seoul. We investigated and apparently a TV drama was set in Vang Vieng a few years back (live and die by the KDramas). I took Andrea since she had never tried it and it was so delicious!

I will be honest. My stomach was strange almost the whole month and after leaving for Myanmar I feel a lot better. Putting food poisoning behind me!
