Portugal 2019 Solo Traveler Budget
This budget is almost identical to my September budget – except I bought some things for Ukraine and Poland during the month as well. I think I did pretty good in Portugal, I just bought new sunglasses and a hat. I held off on many temptations, made stronger by the fact that it was getting cold and I wasn’t spending a lot of money on food or housing.

My total spent during my month in Portugal was $350.34 at an average of $10.95 a day. More time than Catalonia but less spent!
Big purchases:
– Flight to Porto.
– Bills (Brazilian stole money from me while I slept, I am calling it a bill).
– Transit & Grocery.
Exact numbers:
Transit: $84.31
Grocery: $80.21
Bills: $51.06
Restaurants: $55.84
Housing: $27
Clothing: $25.18
Pharmacy: $15.40
Shopping: $11.45
Alcohol: $7.14
Water: $4.94
Snacks: $4.88
Flight: $4.41 (I used my miles)
I received 60 euros total for working at the hostel, they gave me a 20 each Friday. This softened the blow of the theft, I knew she was stealing new money, not savings. Theft happens quite infrequently in hostels but it does happen. It has only happened to me once before and I am usually extremely careful. It just takes one moment of complacency and one morally questionable traveler to create the perfect storm.
