October 2018 Budget
I didn’t go over budget this month! Cue the applause. I spent the first half of the month in Korea and the second half in Vietnam.
Big Purchases
- Vietnam Visa
- Vietnam is one of the few countries where US citizens have to apply for a visa. This is an easy process and not that expensive. US passport privilege is real.
- Halong Bay Cruise
- This is the only way to see the bay. Typically there are two types of cruises. The alcoholic one…and the bougie honeymoon one. I found an adventure-based one but it was sold out. I decided to go on the honeymoon one!

Where I went off Budget
- Groceries
- Again, I overestimated the cost of groceries. Food in Asia is amazing and I can’t resist it!
- Pubic Transit
- Vietnam is the cheapest country I have ever been to. Hostels for two bucks, meal for a dolla.
I am spending more money than I thought in Vietnam just because I am doing so many activities. I have had an interesting few weeks here and am wondering what the remaining two weeks in the country will hold for me.
