December 2019 Budget
I spent so little in December! I was in the Chicago area until the 15th, spending little and eating tons (winter weight, baby). I flew into Cartagena but only stayed one night until going to the jungle to volunteer! At the hostel where I volunteered, they provided all meals and housing costs.
Big Purchases
- Restaurants
- While back home, I had to visit all my favorite restaurants!
- Workaway Membership
- Renewal of an essential travel item – I use this site to find all my volunteer opportunities.

Where I went off Budget
- Restaurants
- I really overestimated how much I would be eating out since they do provide all the meals at my hostel. For some reason I assumed I would still go out to eat a lot…but all of us volunteering at the hostel are on tight budgets.
- Transit
- I also overestimated my transit numbers – traveling in Europe the past fall made me forget developing country bus prices.
