Turkey: Must Try Foods you Need to Know
YUMMMMMM. I am hungry looking at all these photos, so hurry up and get your butt to Istanbul to try all the meats.
Doner Kebab

The classic Turkish fast food – super cheap and you can eat on the go! This was what I ate whenever I felt too lazy to chat with waiters or spend a lot of time in public. My favorite go-to kind was the spicy beef, and the sandwiches always came with tomatoes, lettuce, onion, and cucumber.
Kebab Meals

I preferred the kebab meals over the wraps as I found the meat to be higher quality and to have overall more filling. Usually a few lira extra, the Adana Kebab meal I had next to my hostel was by far one of the best things I ate in Turkey.
Yogurt

Yogurt, cheese, and dairy in general is huge in eastern Europe. This is a complete change in diet for me, I have had basically no dairy in Asia apart from ice cream! Ayran is a common drink with your meal in Turkey. It is a cold yogurt drink with salt.
Pide

One of my best meals in Turkey with one of the most frustrating service experiences. I waited so long to be waited on but ahh it is now in my past. Pide is like the Turkish pizza. I would describe it very similar to flatbread, but a lot cheaper than what I have found in the States.
Turkish Breakfast

A classic, must-try in Turkey. Honestly, you would have to TRY to avoid this. Every morning you have a nice plate of delicious goodies, I do believe it is the way to breakfast. You have a sample of many different things and thus you get several different nutrients. Constants are olives, cucumber, tomato, cheese, and bread.
Pilaf
Pilaf is just seasoned rice cooked with butter. I found this cute little restaurant that served it with beans and meat for cheap. This quickly became my favorite meal in the city and the staff recognized me and would give me free tea and discounts when I came in.

I do feel like my skin isn’t as good because of all the diary. Trying to ween off a little.
