Vietnam 2018 Solo Traveler Budget

I spent a lot more money in Vietnam than expected. Although many things were cheap, I was moving so much and doing so many activities that my expenses were higher than I predicted. I also decided to treat myself to private rooms a few times because…girl needs a break. I had my first private night for the first time in months and it was glorious and addicting. Along with this, I did not book the two dollar rooms, I usually “splurged” for the five dollar ones. Comfort matters.

My big purchases during my time in Vietnam were:

  • Cruise on Halong Bay
  • Domestic flight in Vietnam
  • Housing, food, and transit
  • Vietnam visa
Halong Bay. Expensive but worth it!

I spent a total of $1070.56 in 30 days, on average $35.7 a day (still under 40/day!). Here is exactly what I spent my money on:

Entertainment:  $359.09
Housing: $282.46
Restaurants: $275.97
Transit: $160.46
Bills: $96.95
Flights: $48.82
Transportation: $34.85
Clothing: $24.04
Cafe: $18.21
Internet: $17
Alcohol: $12.88
Shopping: $11.27
Groceries: $11.21
Water: $8.27
Gifts: $6.44

Here is hoping to spending less in Cambodia! Unfortunately, I have heard it is one of the more expensive countries in SE Asia to travel in.

Peace-ing out of Cambodia!
